Online Classrooms in Rural SA

The next session for Classrooms Online will be held on Friday October 12 at 1pm AEST. Leanne Isaacson will be hosting the meeting in the online classroom Discover E.

Leanne has 12 years experience in the coordination and delivery of numerous training programs and has a passion for e learning as well as for the increasingly innovative role that technology can play in assisting individuals, committees/groups and businesses in cost effective communication and collaboration. Leanne has used online classrooms to deliver workshops in a range of areas including risk management and digital story telling. Much of her time is spent improving the way members of organizations meet and work together on line. She has done a lot of this work within rural communities in South Australia. I am sure she will have some valuable information to share with us.

Elluminate Sponsorship

Elluminate recognises the value of the learning that is taking place amongst the members of the network, Classrooms Online, and has agreed sponsor the blog until the end of October. They are hoping that some of you will take the opportunity to set up your own three seat Elluminate room (Vroom).

You can register for your Vroom by clicking on the Elluminate logo at the top of the page. Elluminate provides these Vrooms free of charge and I encourage you to register for one as it is a fantastic way to practice using an online classroom.

Jo Fuller and Adobe Connect

You will remember that our recent Classrooms Online session was hosted by Jo Fuller in Adobe Connect. Jo is using the online classroom for RPL interviews, employment preparation and to deliver programs in community services.

Adobe Connect looks quite different to many of the other online classrooms I have seen. The different tools are set up as pods that can be moved, resized and added or removed depending on the requirements of a particular session.

Jo started the session with a welcome map where we could add our location, she then showed us the various features available in Adobe Connect before describing some of the ways she has used the classroom.

The people who attended were able to play with some of the features and took full advantage of the opportunity to ask Jo many questions about this online classroom.

Jo Fuller - TAFENSW

The next session for Classrooms Online will be hosted by Jo Fuller in the online classroom, Adobe Connect. Jo is the manager of Staff Learning and Development at TAFE NSW - South Western Sydney Institute. She plans to begin the session with an overview of Adobe Connect and its features and then share some examples of how she is using it for teaching and learning. We will end the meeting by brainstorming some ideas as to how we could use online classrooms to enhance our teaching and learning.
